Why your Gorgias bill grows as AI Agent gets better

On Gorgias, a chat that AI Agent resolves on its own is billed twice: once as a helpdesk ticket and once as an automated interaction. That's how Gorgias's own billing guide describes it, and it means the better AI Agent gets at its job, the more it costs you. Heading into Black Friday, it's worth doing that math before the weekend instead of after the invoice.
How Gorgias bills AI Agent
Gorgias prices the helpdesk by tickets and AI Agent by automated interaction. On monthly billing the plans bundle both. Starter is $40 a month for 50 tickets and 30 automated interactions, Basic is $90 for 300 tickets and 30 interactions, Pro is $550 for 2,000 and 190, and Advanced is $1,430 for 5,000 and 530. The AI Agent part of each bundle works out to $1.00 per interaction. Past the bundle, extra tickets and extra interactions are charged at your tier's overage rate, which Gorgias shows on the Billing & usage page.
An interaction counts as automated when the customer doesn't need a human within 72 hours. If AI Agent hands the chat to your team, you pay the ticket fee only. If it resolves the chat itself, you pay the ticket fee and the automation fee on the same ticket. Flows, Order Management and Article Recommendations can trigger the automation fee too, when they settle a question without a person.
What a good month does to the bill
Take a store on Pro with 2,000 tickets a month. If AI Agent resolves a quarter of them, that's 500 automated interactions, 310 more than the plan includes. At the same $1.00 the bundle works out to, that's another $310 on a $550 plan, and your tier's overage rate may be higher. Get AI Agent to resolve half the tickets and it's 810 over the bundle, on the same tickets and the same sales.
Black Friday stacks on top of that. Shopify says its merchants took $14.6 billion over the 2025 Black Friday Cyber Monday weekend, up 27 percent on the year before. More orders bring more "where's my order" and "which size" chats, and every one AI Agent closes adds an automated interaction.
Intercom, Zendesk and Freshdesk charge by outcome too
The big helpdesks all price AI by the outcome or the session. Intercom charges from $0.99 per Fin outcome, on top of a per-seat fee for your team. Zendesk bills AI agents per automated resolution, a request the AI resolved without escalating to a human, and doesn't list the rate on its public pricing page. Freshdesk's pricing page includes the first 500 Freddy AI Agent sessions and sells more at $49 per 100. Tidio sells Lyro AI conversations in quotas, with pay-per-resolution only on its Premium plan.
Outcome pricing is a fair way for a vendor to show the AI works. The cost of it is that your bill follows your resolution rate. A clearer returns page or a better sizing answer means more chats resolved, and each of those is a charge.
How Agentmatica prices it
Agentmatica charges by replies, the answers the shopper sees, in a flat monthly allowance. Free has 100 replies a month, Starter is $29 for 1,000, Growth is $79 for 3,000 and Scale is $199 for 10,000. There are no seats, and no extra fee when a conversation ends without your team. If you run past the allowance, Surge adds replies at $5 per 100 and can never add more than your plan's own price in a month. Without Surge, the agent stops at the limit and shoppers see a contact form until the next month.
Back to the 2,000-ticket store. Say 500 chats a month go to the agent and each takes four replies. That's 2,000 replies, inside Growth at $79, whether the agent resolves all 500 or hands half of them to your team.
Those replies sell, too. A shopper asks which of two boots is warmer. The agent answers from your product pages, shows both as cards, and on Shopify or WooCommerce adds the pair they pick to the cart and hands over a checkout link. When the content doesn't cover a question, it says so and your team gets the chat, with the transcript, in Slack, Telegram, email or Zendesk.
Agentmatica isn't the right fit if you want one inbox for email, SMS and voice tickets. That's a helpdesk's job, and Gorgias is built for it.
Before the weekend
Open Billing & usage in Gorgias and note your tier's overage rates. Take last November's ticket count, multiply it by your current automation rate, and subtract the interactions in your bundle. That's your Black Friday automation fee. Then put the same chats against a flat reply allowance and compare the two.
Flat replies, no fee per resolution
Agentmatica answers and sells in your website chat for a monthly reply allowance, from $29 for 1,000 replies. Start on the Free plan and try it on your own questions before it goes live.
