How to brief an AI sales agent like a new hire

You train an AI sales agent much like you'd onboard a new shop assistant. It needs the product knowledge, which comes from your pages and catalog. It needs a short brief on how you sell, a list of what goes with what, and someone checking its work in the first week.
It learns the product from your pages
When you connect your site, Agentmatica reads your pages, and on Shopify, or WooCommerce with our plugin, it searches your live catalog for products, prices and variants. If a page is wrong or vague, the agent's answer will be too, so the fastest training is often fixing the product page.
Look at your three best sellers and check each page says who it's for and how it fits. Those are the questions a salesperson answers most, and the agent answers them from the same text.
Write the sales brief in Sales notes
Sales notes is a short brief, up to 1,000 characters, that the agent reads when it helps shoppers buy. When you first connect your site we draft two sentences from what we crawled. Edit them, and later crawls won't overwrite your version.
Write it the way you'd brief someone on their first Saturday. Say who usually buys from you, what to recommend when someone isn't sure, and anything it must never promise. Add your free-shipping line, because the agent only knows it if your notes or your pages say so, and any offer you're happy for it to mention.
A brief for a coffee roaster might read: "Most buyers brew at home and want an easy start. If someone isn't sure, recommend the House Blend and ask how they brew. Free shipping is over $45; if an order is close, mention the 250 g sampler. Don't promise delivery dates; point to the shipping page." That's under 300 characters and covers the questions a new hire would get wrong.
The agent also reads your Sales notes when it writes page nudges and the opener it uses when someone lingers on the cart.
Add pairings for what goes with what
Training has a section called Pairings & upsells. A suggest rule says "when a shopper is looking at X, suggest Y". An only-with rule keeps an add-on to the products it fits. A never-with rule stops a pairing that would be wrong. We draft a few from your catalog when you connect, and you can change any of them.
These rules drive the add-on bubble on product pages and the suggestion after a shopper adds an item the agent showed them. The only-with and never-with rules also apply in conversations. Start with one pairing for each of your top five products.
Try it before shoppers see it
Open Test your chat in your dashboard. It's the real widget, and only you see it. Ask the ten questions your team gets most, as a shopper would type them, typos included. Ask for something you don't sell. Ask for a discount. Note every answer you'd have said differently, then fix whatever it was reading.
Coach it during the first week
Once it's live, read conversations every day for a week. When the agent is about to get something wrong, send it a private note in that chat. The shopper doesn't see the note, and the agent follows it in that chat. Up to five notes can be active in a chat. You can also take over the chat yourself and hand it back to the agent when you're done.
If you send the same note twice, it belongs in your Sales notes or a pairing rule, so the agent knows it in every chat.
Questions store owners ask
How do I train an AI sales agent?
Make sure your product pages answer the common questions, write a short sales brief in Sales notes, add pairing rules for what goes with what, test it privately, then read conversations for the first week and coach it where it goes wrong. With Agentmatica all of this is in the dashboard.
How long should Sales notes be?
Sales notes take up to 1,000 characters. A useful brief can be 200 to 400: who buys, what to recommend when someone is unsure, your free-shipping line, and anything the agent must never promise.
Does the agent learn from conversations by itself?
You change what it does by editing your pages, Sales notes and pairing rules, and by coaching it in live chats. Reading conversations each week shows you what to change.
